Controller

The controller under Art. 4(7) and Art. 13 GDPR is Hans Ferchland, email: contact@void-ptr.org. This is a private, non-commercial website.

Hosting and server logs

The website runs on a server rented from Hetzner Online GmbH. The data centre is in the EU. The reverse proxy writes access logs. They contain the IP address, user agent, time and requested URL.

The purpose is secure and stable operation of the website. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation). Logs are kept for 14 days on the same server and then deleted automatically; they are not part of any backup. They are not passed on to third parties, except to the hosting provider as a processor.

No cookies, no tracking

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking services. There are no third-party embeds, no third-party fonts and no contact form. Images are loaded from my own CDN res.void-ptr.org, which I operate myself.

Local storage (localStorage)

The browser stores three things locally: the chosen colour theme, the command history of the terminal and the user name you can pick with su (without one: visitor). The theme and the history are not sent to the server. The terminal sends the user name along with each command you type, so the server can draw the prompt with it; it is neither stored nor logged there. Don't pick your real name if you don't want that. You can delete the data at any time in your browser settings.

External links

This website links to external sites, for example GitHub, YouTube and project sites. These are plain links. Data is only transferred to the respective operator once you click a link. Their own privacy policies apply.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your stored data (Art. 15)
  • rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16)
  • erasure (Art. 17)
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18)
  • data portability (Art. 20)
  • object to processing (Art. 21)
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77)

To exercise these rights, write to contact@void-ptr.org.
